a new place

So yesterday we left our home in Paris for a new adventure in another location. We caught a train to lille in the northern most part of France bordering Belgium. From there we made our way up into the Netherlands finally stopping in Amsterdam. We went to a hostel we found online and found ourselves in an all girl dormitory with sixteen beds. A very dirty place.it seems they don’t understand the concept of taking out the trash here. Oh well. We went for a walk around the town. Dear lord I think every person I saw was under the influence of one intoxicant or another. Every souvenir store had bongs pipes pot and seeds to grow your own. We stopped staring at all of the illegal drugs and paraphenilia or however you spell it and we went and grabbed some pizza. We ate it and began to walk again. Before we knew it it was seven at night and we were in the red light district with sex for sale everywhere we turned. We went back to the hostel to find shelter from this scary place. That is when we met two new friends. (now before I get to far ahead of myself I need to mention that keelin had blogged yesterday but some how it was never posted and wasn’t saved. So sorry to leave you hanging) anyway. Our new friends. Sarah and Andy. Maybe short for Andrea. Not sure. They were two young ladies that had been dating for two years and they were around twenty one. They were very nice and after talking to them for a good hour they invited us to come out with them. We thought it sounded like fun so we went. They took us to a well known lesbian bar in Amsterdam or as they called it, the dyke bar. There were quite a few ladies there. And all were very kind. We tried a bellini which is a peach flavored champagne. It was good but could be dangerous. Apparently they don’t check Id in Amsterdam because I the lone child was allowed to do everything my eighteen year old friends did. After spending a good couple of hours at the bar and meeting a couple new people including one that had fought in the Lebanon war. Intense stuff right there. So we hung out with the girls for the rest of the night around the city and made our way back to the hostel a little before two. This morning we awoke at nine for breakfast which was very fulfilling. We decided that Amsterdam was a one night type of place so we packed our bags said goodbye to our friends and were off to the train station. We are now currently on our way through the Netherlands hoping to end up somewhere in the south of France before the days end. So tonight Margaret will be blogging informing all of you of where we end up. Have a lovely day.

last day in Paris!

Today was a very uneventful day though it had its highlights. For instance, the Germans at breakfast. They were very rude. I, Maggie, was trying to get to my seat but the German girl behind me had her rearend sticking out so far that I could not pull out my chair in the slightest. After trying to noticeably yet unnoticeably bump her chair so she would get the hint to scoot in, she didn’t. Somehow, I don’t even know how because her chair was out so far, I managed to sit down but very cramped and uncomfortably. As you can most definitely tell, I am still bitter. Hopefully there won’t be any more run ins or shat will go down. Anyways, back to our day, we decided to go to sacre coeur for souvenirs and saint charms so that was our first stop. For those of you who have never been to the sacre coeur, it is on top of a very large hill. We-could-see-our-hostel-miles-away-from-the-top very large hill. But to get to the top, there were only stairs and after a baguette only diet, stairs are not your friend. We had to take a few rest stops here and there, but we finally made it. We stopped in to the side shops first of all to find postcards for y’all. We wanted to find the one that I saw when I came in eighth grade, which had many different penis pictures, but be thankful, because those are not the ones you’ll be getting, we couldn’t find them. But before purchasing my set of cards, my lip began to swell and turn white. I hadn’t felt any pain so I didn’t think it was a bite of any kind. I let it wait itself out and low and behold, the swelling went down. We then ventured into the sacre coeur where we had witnessed a beautiful mas the day before and headed for the gift shop for the saint charms it was requested upon us to get. Casey and I chose the saint Christopher for ourselves because he is suppose to help with safety during traveling. I’m not sure which ones keelin chose but I’m sure they are lovely. We got others but they aren’t being named due to the fact that said person may be following our blog and will know her gift that we have decided to keep secret from her. You know who you are, because you asked specifically for it. But after that adventure, we metroed our way to the train station to get our tickets to our next exciting destination. And then we took a very long metro ride, again, back to our hostel where we played gameboy and wrote postcards. After a brisk walk in the park, we sent off most postcards and stopped by the pharmacy. Its been nap time ever since and is about to be bed time. I apologize that our day was so uneventful that I had to focus on little, inexciting things just so I had something to write. Tomorrow’s will be better as you will be hearing from our one and only kiki and we love you all. Goodnight.

please note

Last night when I wrote my little blog I was half way asleep. It took me a total of three hours to write that blog both inbetween and during sleep times. So I would like to apologize for spelling and punctuation mistakes as I was not fully concious. Also… We would like to further instill in your minds our attitudes towards Germans; completely unfavorable. Very loud. And they cornered us at breakfast this morning. Scary being the lone English speakers in a sea full of angry accented voices. We tried to keep our jokes (mothers you know of which kind we speak) to an all time low for fear of reigniting the flames of past wars. One other thing on a complete side note. We would like to congratulate the newly wedded Kelly and Monty gamble. Big props, hope the honeymoon is treating you well. That’s all for now. Maggie will be writing you tonight.

no longer hungry

Today was an overall lovely day. It started with the usual breakfast followed by the discovery that maggie’s bag had finally been delicred by the airport.we then lengthened our stay by three days, the new departure date being the twenty first.we were informed that this switch would cause a room change and we accepted it.we then when to th opera district for a bit of window shopping and lunch on my mommy. We went to a little cafe on a side street close to gallery Lafayette. We thought it looked reasonably priced and yummy so we grabbed a seat. Keelin got a salmon appetizer steak and fries Maggie ordered steak and fries and a slice of chocolate cake which later ran out and had to be replaced with caramel custard. I got the plate of the day which was roasted chicken with pasta. Thought I’d make mom and dad proud. It was all very very tasty and a far from our usual budget. After our two hour french lunch/dinner we headed home.we arriver at home to go find our new room. Much to our surprise it was a room fit for royalty. Three beds, none of them connected, complete with our very own shower and toilet. Conveniently positioned right next to the elevator.we then Performed the usual lay around munch on some food listen to music shower type of deal and then decided to head out and be social. We found a Couple discotheques and bars in the Latin quarter that looked lively so we headed out to check them out. We got off the metro and had no luck finding any of them. However we did manage to find some break Dancing cross dressed street performers that kept us entertained. We then, around ten found a crepe stand that grabbed our attention. We all got our crepes…actually I accidentally got two. But oh well. We decided to head home as we ate our crepes. A long and tiring ride. At the end we were. Relieved to be headed towards our beds. We walked through the doors and instead of funding our beds we found sixty or so screaming french childen. All waiting in line to use the same metro. Now we are nesstled into our beautiful new room. Keelin an Maggie have both fallen asleep and I plan to now do the same. Over and out.

LONG day

Hello everyone. Paris time is almost 8 PM. Today was something else. The day began early. At 7 AM, we awoke to our German neighbors screaming and laughing. At 7 AM. They’re German, it’s Sunday morning… Shouldn’t they be sleeping off a hangover? So I, keelin, decided to take a shower. By 8, we were all ready to go. We went down and had our same corn flake, baguette, and orange juice breakfast. I decided to mix it up this morning with some coffee. As those who are acquainted with me know, I am not a coffee girl, but today it was good. I may have added about 5 sugar cubes. :) after breakfast, we started our day. We made our way to montmontre. Before leaving the hostel, I mapped out our day on the metro. Thanks to Bethany Johnson and Erik Steiner, I have a great guide book with the metro map showing all the routes. It comes in VERY handy when figuring how to use only the metro and not the RER. The RER is another underground rail system here but to switch between metro and RER, you have to pay for another ticket. It’s confusing, but the mapping out of our day in turn saves us money. WOW! I am boring! So… Our first stop today was sacre coeur. Beautiful old catholique church. We got there around 10 and went the the 11 AM mass. It was an experience to attend catholic church in fernch. I’m glad we did it. After mass, around 1230, we went to the moulin rouge. Haha, very holy of us, huh? But it was close so we figured, why not? Next, we hopped back onto the metro and rode it to the eiffel tower. Saw that and then ate our stolen-from-the-free-breakfast baguettes and jam. Sometimes I can’t even handle how rebelious we are. I don’t know if that’s how you spell rebelious… Whatever. After our baby lunch, we got onto the metro and went to the notre dame. We sat outside for a while and discussed what we would do for dinner. The market across from our cell is closed all of Sunday, so should we find a market by notre dame or look around our neighborhood when we get back to the hostel? We chose our neighborhood because it then began to rain. We ran back to the metro and got on. I was so proud of us that we had done so well on the metro today. We mastered it! That’s when we decided to get off at porte de clichy instead of mairie de clichy. After our metro ride yesterday, we thought we saw that porte de clichy was closer to our cell. We were wrong. We got out and didn’t recognize anything. But we decided to walk in the rain anyways because the hostel shouldn’t be too far, right? Wrong. An hour and a half goes by. Our hostel is nowhere in sight. Nor is a metro station. By this time, we’re in our pretty Sunday church clothes soaking wet. I don’t know how many people pointed us in the wrong direction when we asked them where the metro was.

Us: ou est le metro?
Them: right over there… (side)*snicker snicker*stupide Americans… We showed them!

Stupid french people…we FINALLY found our way to the metro and then made our way easily back to the hostel. We got to our cell at about 7 PM. While we were still lost, we had picked up some salami and a cucumber. When we got to our cell, we ate our baguettes with salami. Even casey ate the salami! And loved it! We were all so hungry, it was the most pathetic thing in the world. We sat on our beds hunched over our food practically crying. I know for a fact that all of our moms just read that, imagined it, and felt a little ping of sadness in their hearts. JB is probably crying. It’s okay. We finished eating and thought back to how we had been five minutes earlier and just started laughing. When we were done with our bipolar attacks, Casey and I went to extend our stay in the hostel until Wednesday. We have to switch rooms though. I’m happy about that. The Germans next door are starting to piss me off. They’re so loud. Our hostel has an 11 o’clock noise policy and if they are up and making noise at 1101, I am banging on their door with my mace in hand. But anyways… Casey and I came back to the room and she and Maggie fell asleep while I emailed pics from today to JB. They will be posted soon by her hopefully. C and M are still sleeping but hopefully they’ll wake soon because we have to call the ‘rents soon. Casey, Maggie, and I did realize something today… The European gentlemen have taken a liking to us. Today we got comments such as “hello sexy lady” and “how much for a ****” haha. I know, right? We’ve found the most effective responses though. 1-ignore them. If that fails 2-say au revoir. They get offended and walk off. Oh the cleveness of us! Oh and I almost forgot, but I didn’t… Papa Jim, John, and Bob: happy father’s day!!!! I’m sure it’s not the same without your precious gems, but try to enjoy yourselves without it. With that, I will sign out. It’s about that time to call family. Until next time!
